(Jefferson City, MO) — Former businessman-turned-author and radio talk show host Herman Cain says he is very close to announcing his bid for the Republican nomination for President.
Before addressing a couple of hundred supporters on the State Capitol’s south lawn Tuesday, Cain told reporters he was "up to about my neck" in sentiment about running for President.
Cain says he identifies with the tea party movement and courts their support over issues like the free market system with a limited government role, a free rein of constitutional liberty, and governmental fiscal responsibility.
"That’s all any tea party person wants, but the liberals have no other mechanism than to resort to name calling, that’s why they’re labeling the movement as ‘racist’ and ‘extreme right wing’. No, it’s not."
